privacy policy
The Square Deal · Schaumburst LLC · Effective date: July 2, 2026
The Square Deal is a single-player poker-puzzle game published by Schaumburst LLC ("we," "us," "our") for iOS and Android. We built it to respect your privacy: we do not operate any server of our own, we do not use any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking, and we do not sell or share your information. This policy explains the limited data the app handles and where it lives. Questions? Contact us at info@schaumburst.com.
The short version
- The app has no accounts to create and asks you for no personal information — no name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or device identifiers.
- Your gameplay progress (streaks, daily history, scores, achievements) is stored on your device.
- On platforms where you're signed in, that progress may sync through your own iCloud account (iOS) so it survives reinstalls and moves between your devices. This is your private cloud storage; we have no access to it.
- If you play Daily Ranked, your score is submitted to Apple Game Center (iOS) leaderboards under your Game Center identity, where your chosen display name and score are visible to other players. Leaderboards are operated by Apple.
- Purchases (the one-time Full Game Unlock) are processed by Apple or Google — we never see your payment details.
- We run no server and collect no data ourselves. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
What data the app handles
Gameplay and progress data (stored on your device)
To make the game work — track streaks, show your calendar, gate the free trial, and remember achievements — the app stores the following locally on your device:
- Streaks: your current daily streak and your longest daily streak.
- Daily history: a rolling record of roughly the last 12 months — which days you played, your Daily Puzzle and Daily Ranked scores, and whether each day earned credit. History older than ~12 months is discarded.
- Achievements: months you've "mastered," your title/rank tier, and progress through the game's Journeys.
- Cosmetics and settings: unlocked card backs/backgrounds, and your preferences (theme, sound, animations, tutorial-seen).
- Trial status: a count of how many free games you've played.
- In-progress games: enough state to resume a game you left mid-play. This is kept only on your device and is never synced to the cloud.
This information describes your gameplay. It does not include your identity, contacts, location, or device identifiers.
Cloud save (your own iCloud / platform account)
So your progress isn't lost when you reinstall or switch devices, the app can store a copy of your progress data in your own platform cloud storage:
- iOS: Apple iCloud Key-Value Storage, tied to your Apple ID. This is private to your Apple account and isolated per user — we cannot read, write, or access it.
- Android: progress is currently stored only on your device. A future update may add Google Play Games saved-game sync; if it does, that data will live in your own Google account, and this policy will be updated.
We do not receive a copy of this data and operate no database of our own.
Leaderboards (Apple Game Center / Google Play Games)
If you choose to play Daily Ranked, the app submits your score for that day — and a computed rolling average of your recent scores — to the platform's leaderboards:
- iOS: Apple Game Center. Your Game Center display name, score, and rank are visible to other players on the daily leaderboards. Game Center is operated by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
- Android: Google Play Games leaderboards are not yet enabled; when they are, equivalent information will be visible on Google's leaderboards, and this policy will be updated.
You control your leaderboard display name through your Apple Game Center (or Google Play Games) account settings, not through this app. Other game modes (Daily Puzzle, Endless, Journeys) do not submit anything to leaderboards.
Purchases
The app offers a single one-time in-app purchase (the Full Game Unlock), handled entirely by Apple's App Store (StoreKit) or Google Play Billing. Your payment information goes to Apple or Google — never to us. The app only checks with Apple/Google whether your purchase is active; it stores no payment data.
What we do not do
- We do not operate any server, backend, or database of our own.
- We do not use any analytics or measurement SDKs.
- We do not show ads or use any advertising SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and we use no advertising identifiers (no IDFA/AAID).
- We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their own purposes.
- We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise or coarse location, photos, health data, or browsing history.
Third-party services
The only third parties involved are the platform providers whose services the app relies on to function. They act as your service provider (and, for cloud storage, hold data on your behalf), each under their own privacy policy:
- Apple — iCloud, Game Center, and App Store / StoreKit (iOS).
- Google — Play Games and Play Billing (Android).
See Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
Data retention and deletion
- Daily history is automatically pruned to a rolling ~12-month window.
- Streaks, mastery, titles, journeys, and cosmetics are kept until you remove them.
- You can erase your on-device progress at any time using Reset Progress in the app's Settings. This also clears the local copy and requests removal of the synced cloud copy.
- You can additionally manage or delete your cloud save through your device's iCloud settings (iOS) or Google Play Games settings (Android), and your leaderboard entries through your Game Center / Play Games account.
- Because we hold no data ourselves, there is nothing for us to delete on a server; if you have questions, contact us at info@schaumburst.com.
Children's privacy
The Square Deal is a general-audience game. It is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not request personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will help.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., under the GDPR in the EEA/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of personal data. Because the app collects no personal data on our servers and we hold no such data, most of these rights are satisfied by the on-device and platform controls described above. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law. For any request, contact us at info@schaumburst.com.
International users
Any cloud storage or leaderboard data is held by Apple or Google in their infrastructure under their respective privacy policies and data-transfer practices. We do not transfer your data ourselves because we do not receive it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data (for example, when Android cloud sync or leaderboards are enabled), we will update this policy and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected here before the corresponding app update ships.
